My roommate recently moved out so I decided to clean up the joint (which had turned into a Manhattan version of Grey Gardens--I knew I had a problem when 9 raccoons jumped out of my armoire one morning), re-decorate, turn the spare room into a library, Feng Shui, and then throw a big party for all of my friends (and quite a few strangers, as it turned out.) Champagne, radis farcis au chèvre, Loretta Lynn's white bean dip, and Sophia Loren's veal meatballs (prepared by my friend Corey Sabourin) were served. Someone brought a gallon-size tin of Beluga caviar as well, but the raccoons got to it before we did.
At 9:15pm a stampede of revelers showed up at my door: Prixe de Flore-winning author Bruce Benderson, dandies extraordinaire Patrick McDonald and Cator Sparks, performance artist and star of the Warhol/Morrissey film "Women in Revolt" Penny Arcade, Kembra Pfahler of the Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black, Scott Ewalt, Patty Powers, Pleasure Principle designers Diva Pittala and Adrian Cowen, knitwear designer Tom Scott, artist Scott Neary, Oscar de la Renta/Michael and Hushi model Carlota, Albert Maysles intern Max, Straight to Hell EIC Billy Miller, Russian dissident and artist Slava Mogutin, go-go god and artist Brian Kenny, Inside Fly fashion director Graham Taber and photographer Miguel Villalobos, Bowie Ball organizer Deryck Todd and a dozen of his MySpace friends, gadfly Rupert Goldsworthy, Cuba scholar Nancy Stout, My Comrade EIC Les Simpson, Alex Galan of D.A.P. Books, Carl Swanson of New York Magazine, Pia Zadora, artist John Toth, social terrorist Becki Heller, performer and model Elizabeth Taylor (no, not the one who was in Joseph Losey's "Boom", a different one), some guy with a skateboard, Vanessa and Vedran, Jason Morrison and Sasha Baron Cohen, Karina of Marian Goodman gallery, model Mag Wildwood, and a bunch of other people who I can't remember or just don't know their names. How they all fit in my tiny apartment is beyond me. While Bruce Benderson's disciples gathered around him in the smoking room, others lounged in the VIP room and took in a screening of Alejandro Jodorowsky's "Holy Mountain."
Globetrotting journalist Aric Chen brought me this CHANEL shopping bag made entirely of marzipan, to commemorate the opening of my "shopping bag room" which features an exhibit of vintage shopping bags from the world's most exclusive boutiques. Aric brought the bag all the way from the sweets shop of the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles! The raccoons are loving it.

Me and Patrick McDonald show off our silver metallic "kicks" (as the kids call them these days.)
Thank you for reading! Mag Wildwood, Rupert Goldsworthy, and Vera Charles are passed out in my library in their good Chanel dresses, so if you'll excuse me as I employ a few buckets of icewater...
