Dear Wunderbar Wiener Dogs,
I was recently in the lovely city of Vienna, that gilded gingerbread citadel, for the 11th edition of MQ Vienna Fashion week and for some holiday downtime. Here are my stories for A Shaded View on Fashion:
1. Opening Night of MQFW featuring Rudi Gernreich & Helmut Lang
2. 24-Hour Arty People: Party at the Kunsthistoriche Museum
3. Man-candy International Male Redux & the effortless elegance of Maria Oberfrank
4. A fashion triumph from Indonesia: Lulu Lutfi Labibi
5. Modern glamour from Julianne Moore's former stylist, Kithe Brewster
6. Cultish fanaticism at Mads Dinesen
7. Pop sci-fi fashion from Thailand
8. My "lean luxury" experience at the Ruby Marie Hotel
Hot, hunky male models touching themselves is what we were treated to during a runway rehearsal before the start of fashion week.
Moi and MQ Vienna Fashion Week publicist Elisabeth Muth and I in the photo booth. Elisabeth also PRs some of the best restaurants in Vienna, including Patara and Tian.
I've been to Vienna many times but had never ventured outside the city limits. That all changed on this last trip when Georg Matyas, the highly affable husband of Zigi Mueller-Matyas (one of the chief organizers of MQVFW) took me on a lovely drive through the Austrian countryside. We made a special trip to Georg's hometown of Klosterneuberg, a hilly hamlet that is home to this lovely 12th-century Augustinian monastery. My lungs went into shock from all the fresh air!
I adore donkeys! So cute. Reminds me of the nomadic donkeys who visited our hotel in Fortaleza, Brazil during a Dragao Fashion Week a few years ago.
On the drive back to Vienna, Georg and I visited a traditional wine house.
Super women: Zigi Mueller-Matyas and Elvyra Geyer of Creative Headz, organizers of MQVFW.
Vienna's hottest couple: Zigi and Georg.
Love,
Glenn Belverio
